In Ser and Estar, read pages 2 to 8. Do the five multiple-choice questions on page 8 and five translation questions on page 9.
Check your answers on page 10. The five sentences printed under "Fill in the Blanks" are already filled in; use them as examples.

La casa está en Madrid.Use está to say where this house is. Compare it with es in la casa es grande, which describes the house.
The translation "I am a teacher" can be soy profesora or soy profesor, according to the speaker. The key gives the feminine version.

Build a regular verb
In Present Tense Verbs Workbook, review the regular models on pages 3 to 5. Complete Set 1, items 1 to 10, on page 11.
Then read Lectura 1 and answer its five questions on page 1 of Reading Comprehension. Check the verb answers on page 17 and the reading answers on page 5.
After checking, say one new sentence about your own routine using a verb from the set.

Notice the changing stem
Review the stem changes on pages 6 and 7 of the verbs workbook. Complete Set 2, items 11 to 20, on page 12.
Read Lectura 2 and answer its five questions on page 2 of the reading PDF. Check both answer keys: verbs page 17, reading page 5.
Circle the part of each verb that changes. Check the subject before choosing the form.
Session 4, 15 questions
Practise the common irregulars
Review pages 8 to 10 of the verbs workbook. Complete Set 3, items 21 to 30, on page 13.
Read Lectura 3 and answer its five questions on page 3 of the reading PDF. Check verbs on page 17 and reading on page 6.

Vosotros conocéis al profesor.Vosotros is the informal plural "you" used in Spain. Here, conocer takes the ending -éis. Keep the accent in conocéis.
In reading question 5, Sofía's tea costs €2 and her toast costs €3. The total is €5.

Fix the mistake
Complete Set 4, items 31 to 40, on page 14 of the verbs workbook. Then read Lectura 4 and answer its five questions on page 4 of the reading PDF.
Check verbs on page 18 and reading on page 6.

Nosotros jugamos al críquet.Jugar changes u to ue in some present-tense forms, such as yo juego. With nosotros, keep jug- and add -amos.
Session 6, 10 questions
Make the sentence your own
Complete Set 5, items 41 to 50, on page 15 of the verbs workbook. Check page 18.
When you make a mistake, write down the subject, the infinitive and the correct form. Then make another short sentence with that same form.
Return to any reading you found difficult and retell two things you remember without looking.
Session 7, 10 questions
Put the pieces together
Complete Set 6, items 51 to 60, on page 16 of the verbs workbook. Check the answers on page 19.
Both phrase choices in each item can make a correct sentence. Use a choice that fits what you want to say, with the right verb form.
Choose three earlier questions you missed. Try them again before reopening the key, then say a few sentences about your own life.
Seven sessions, 90 questions in total.
Before you finish
Can you introduce yourself, describe where something is and make a short present-tense sentence about your day? Say an answer aloud, then check the grammar you were unsure about.
Finishing the questions is a useful practice milestone. It is not an A1 certificate or a complete course.
